The Kii Factory is one of three wet mills in Kenya that form the Rungeto Cooperative Society, located on the slopes of Mount Kenya. The Cooperative’s wet mill qualifies for ethical and environmental standards and they have the required systems for quality control on processing, grading and lot separation.
Kenyan coffee is known for its intense, complex and flavorful cup profiles worldwide. The farmers are finding that the varietal Ruiru is becoming increasingly popular due to the higher yield and resistance against CBD (Coffee Bean Disease). Due to the popularity of this plant, lately, the cup profiles have been tasting of lemon, red berries and floral notes compared to the famous juicy blackcurrant from previous harvests. We chose Kii due to the complexity and vibrancy it presents, as well as the consistency of their high cupping scores.
