In 1885 after the death of her husband Rafael Diaz, Doña Lorenza Gil de Diaz, originally from Amatitlan, acquired several portions of the land given to the militias. Her original purpose was to use the land for wood. That changed when she discovered that El Bosque had exceptional qualities for the production of coffee. Since then, the property has remained in the family for 5 generations all dedicated to the production of specialty coffee. As part of a new project every varietal is grown in a lot of its own and processed by Cup of Excellence handlers and processors at the Serben dry mill.
